Hi! My name is Stephen, though I generally go by Ashe (please don't tell my students)!
I teach multiple ELA courses, from grades 9-12! I've always felt that self-expression is important, especially among students, and as someone whose spent a lot of time involved with theater, this seemed great!
I'm hoping to learn how to apply self-expression to more lessons within my content area!
I'm interested in this class because it offers a salary point and self-pace. I also think this class will be fun!
I'm hoping to strengthen my communications skills and be able to bring it into my classroom. I'm hoping to learn fun strategies that will help my students who have a hard time communicating.
1) I'm Heather and I teach music at the MS/HS level.
2) I am a performer and one of the things I am always trying to get my choir kids to buy in on is the power of performance.
3) I'm hoping this will give me some tools to help my choir students reach deeper to access their acting/ performing abilities to communicate the meaning and emotion behind the music we are performing.
Hello! My name is Shraddha and I am a high school teacher. I am interested in maxing out on the salary table for my district, and I saw this course posted and recommended on the UTLA Member Professional Development Group. It seemed like a good fit as it is self-paced and deals with emotional intelligence. I hope to obtain two things: some strategies to use with my students and a salary point.
I think the focus on emotional intelligence is especially important right now. Our students are still profoundly affected by the pandemic and the loss of social-emotional and academic learning during that time.
I took Psychology classes in undergrad and have always been interested in the human mind. It intrigues me even more now as a High School Teacher, especially in the effects of a Post- Pandemic world.
Hello, Matanya. It is nice to meet another high school teacher here. I agree it is interesting how the pandemic has affected our students in every sense including emotionally. I hope to learn some strategies to use with students and seeing how students respond.
good point. Student behavior towards studying, learning and social skills have been affected by the pandemic or those two gap years on traditional schooling.
Hi! I'm Claudie, a kindergarten teacher. I'm hoping to sharpen my communication skills and bring some of the fun information learned here back into my classroom.
My name is Dana and I am a high school ELA teacher. I'm interested in this class because I think it's a really cool concept to connect theater to cognitive development.
I'm hoping to learn strategies to know my mind better and be able to teach my students how they might use some of these skills to navigate high school.
I have always been fascinated by the CBT approach to therapy, and was a theater and choir kid in high school. So I'm definitely interested in seeing the overlap.
My name is Perla and I am a middle school ELA teacher. I am interested in learning more about the arts (theater) and how that can support what I am currently doing in the classroom.
Colleen- I was able to attend a live session, and enjoyed the energy and information that was shared. I'm hoping to increase my communication skills with others.
Robin; I am interested in learning more about the mind and how to control thoughts. I am participating as a participant for the School Nurses. So thankful for this opportunity.
I know you took this course a awhile ago- definitely having ways to cope I think in the healthcare community and in life life is important. This would be a great benefit of this course.
I definitely connect with the idea of gaining enjoyment from work again. Since the pandemic, there has been such a difficult balance of returning to education and navigating all of the demands placed upon us. I hope this course teaches us how to manage that!
